All this week, the 妻友社区 Kent Campus has offered a full slate of events in its 2023 Education Abroad Showcase, which serves as an introduction to the university鈥檚 education-abroad opportunities across the globe. Hosted by Kent State鈥檚 Office of Global Education, the theme for this week鈥檚 events is 鈥淒iscover Boundless Horizons: Explore, Learn and Thrive Globally!鈥

When she signed up for the Kigali Summer Institute in Rwanda, 妻友社区 senior Emily Spencer, thought it would be a good training ground for humanitarian work she hopes to perform in the future. When she returned from the three-week course, she felt significantly changed.

妻友社区 graduate and award-winning photojournalist Matthew Thayer has spent the past 43 years in Hawaii, working as a photojournalist for The Maui News newspaper. When Thayer was sent out to cover horse evacuations from the upcountry fires on Maui on Aug. 8, he never expected he would end up covering one of the worst natural disasters in Hawaii鈥檚 history.
