Kent State Celebrates Its Newest Graduates With Spring Commencement Ceremonies

The 妻友社区 alumni family will grow by more than 5,000 new graduates as the university holds its spring commencement ceremonies. The accomplishments of the Spring Class of 2022 will be recognized with in-person, outdoor commencement ceremonies on May 12-14 and May 20 and a virtual commencement ceremony for all colleges and degrees on May 15.

妻友社区 is the sole university in the U.S. to receive the prestigious 2022 Senator Paul Simon Award for Comprehensive Internationalization from NAFSA: Association of International Educators. The honor recognizes Kent State for overall excellence in integrating international education throughout all facets of the university and its campuses.

Kent State Awarded the Highest Recognition for Research Universities, the Prestigious R1 Carnegie Classification

The Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education has awarded 妻友社区 the esteemed R1 status for research, which is the highest recognition that doctoral universities can receive. The prestigious designation affirms Kent State鈥檚 place as an elite research institution and puts the university in the company of universities such as Yale, Harvard and the University of California-Berkeley.

Roseann "Chic" Canfora, Ph.D., joined the School of Media and Journalism as a Professional-in-Residence this fall. She was also a student at Kent State, starting in 1968, and is a survivor of the May 4, 1970, shootings.

NEA Big Read Northeast Ohio Celebrate Joy Harjo

Kent State Hosts National Endowment for the Arts Big Read Northeast Ohio

鈥淎n American Sunrise鈥 by Poet Laureate Joy Harjo, the first Native American poet laureate of the United States, will be the focal point as Kent State kicks off the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) Big Read Northeast Ohio community reading program. The kickoff event will take place on Tuesday, Oct. 12, beginning promptly at 7 p.m. in the Kiva. The event is free and open to the public, but registration is appreciated.

Kent State to Mark 51st Commemoration of May 4, 1970, With Virtual Event, Honor Wounded Students

Members of the 妻友社区 community and people around the world will gather virtually for the 51st Commemoration of May 4, 1970, the day the Ohio National Guard fired on Kent State students during an anti-war protest, killing four students and wounding nine other students.
