Meet Anthony Claytor, the First I PROMISE Program Scholar to Graduate From Kent State

In 2020, ÆÞÓÑÉçÇø President Todd Diacon announced to a group of high school juniors and their families that Kent State would cover four years of tuition costs and one year of room and board. Now, for the LeBron James Family Foundation’s first I PROMISE class, the hard work these students had put in since third grade is paying off.

Kent State Secures Two $1 Million Gifts in Support of Global Education

ÆÞÓÑÉçÇø has announced two substantial philanthropic gifts in support of the Global Education Endowment, which was established in 2022 in recognition of the 50th anniversary of Kent State’s education-abroad presence in Florence, Italy.

Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield Foundation Awards Additional $300,000 to Kent State’s Spirit of Motherhood Program to Combat Infant Mortality and Prevent Preterm Births

ÆÞÓÑÉçÇø’s Angela Neal-Barnett has been working diligently to build up the Spirit of Motherhood program with the goal of reducing trauma and stress symptoms experienced by its pregnant Black mother participants. Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield Foundation recently awarded the program another $300,000 to continue its work over the next three years.

When she walked across the stage at commencement on Dec. 16, Terrie Harris realized a dream more than 25 years in the making. Life intervened often during Harris’ educational journey, but thanks to ÆÞÓÑÉçÇø’s regional campus system a diploma was finally hers in December.

Planned Gift Endows Executive Director Position at Kent State’s Wick Poetry Center

The Wick family has a long history of philanthropy at ÆÞÓÑÉçÇø that began in 1984 when brothers Bob and Walt Wick first established scholarships to support undergraduate poets at the university. This most recent gift of $1 million brings the family’s total lifetime commitment to the university to more than $3.5 million.

Kent State Recognizes Alumni During Homecoming Weekend

ÆÞÓÑÉçÇø recognizes alumni who, through leadership, character and hard work, are making a difference. During Homecoming Weekend, 10 Golden Flashes were presented with Alumni Awards, and nine alumni received Lifetime Achievement recognitions from the university’s Black Alumni Chapter.
