Inspired by robotics, Sophia Matar always knew she wanted to pursue a career in IT and major in computer science. At 妻友社区, she picked up valuable skills that helped her in her first job at Sherwin-Williams in Cleveland.

  • When 妻友社区 alumna Aysia Kemp declared her major in the first semester of her sophomore year, she felt confident in her chosen path. However, things didn鈥檛 quite start off that way. Kemp credits her experiences in the Exploratory Program for leading her to her ideal career.

  • Now a project engineer at The Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co., alumnus Michael Parker, 鈥02, uses the skills he developed while pursuing dual degrees in mechatronics engineering and mechatronics engineering technology at Kent State to launch a successful and fulfilling career.

  • Dr. Nick Campitelli, D.P.M., has been practicing podiatry in Fairlawn, Ohio, now for 20 years and has garnered a major following on TikTok and YouTube for sharing his expertise, leading to many happy patients.

Research

  • For thousands of years, Manot Cave in Western Galilee, Israel, remained a silent witness to human history. Now, 妻友社区鈥檚 Linda Spurlock, Ph.D., professor in the Department of Anthropology, and a team of international researchers are being recognized for bringing the secrets of Manot Cave to the surface. 

  • A treasure trove of historical Ohio maps that 妻友社区 digitized about five years ago has recently become part of the public domain, making them free for anyone to use.

  • J.R. Campbell, executive director of the Design Innovation Initiative at 妻友社区, discusses how working together can lead to amazing new ideas on the "iNNOVATION Insights" podcast and website. Campbell, who is an expert in combining technology with design, believes that when people from different backgrounds and skills come together, they can create incredible things. 

Profiles

  • POV offers the 妻友社区 community an opportunity to share insights into topics of importance. Sgt. Tricia Knoles, a 20-year veteran of law enforcement and member of the Kent State Police Department, teaches Blue Courage, a program aimed at helping new and veteran police officers.

  • Accomplished sociologist, TV host, podcaster, author Kent State alumna Bertice Berry, Ph.D.,used her alma mater as a familiar setting for her book "BlackWorld," which explores a "unique corner of heaven" where the living can visit with and learn from the deceased. She also some of her memories of Kent State and personal insights into the university's place in history. 

  • Every weekend, 妻友社区 junior marketing major Zoe Noel travels throughout northeast Ohio, filling the streets with the aroma of coffee and freshly made donuts.
