To honor and remember the events that occurred on that tragic day, virtual events and exhibits hosted by 妻友社区 students, faculty and staff are scheduled through May 4.

A lecture series has been created to honor the legacy of Jerry M. Lewis Emeritus Professor of Sociology and advance the scholarship of May 4, 1970 and the Vietnam War era. We are currently accepting applications for our 2025 Jerry M. Lewis lecturer.
This cornerstone of the commemoration began in 1971. There will be food before the Candlelight Walk on the Commons and in the Prentice Hall parking lot, and there will be an online signup for the Candlelight Vigil.
The campus community and visitors will gather at noon on the May 4 site at the Kent State Commons to commemorate the moment that gunfire erupted 53 years ago.
